The mountains of Oregon are truly a four-season wonderland. Visit the lodge at Crater Lake Park in the winter and you may conclude that it’s a beautiful but inaccessible place. Snowy season lovers revel in the freedom presented by winter. Snow aficionados from snow shoers to snowmobilers rule the backcountry in the winter, the snow smoothing over the rough spots and providing trails where none existed in the summer. Fall is my favorite time to be in the mountains when the fruits ( mushrooms and huckleberries) of summer’s warmth are ready to be harvested and the skeeters (and crowds) are done.
